History Badge Here I Come!
April 27, 2019
Hello!
Greetings to fellow Rib Scouts and less excited greetings to non-Rib Scouts:
I’ll be giving my own thoughts on these materials and try to add as much context as I can as we go. Some of this 50’s lingo feels like a whole other language (example: curtain climbers – it’s NOT about cats T_T).
Heya, I’m Elaine from Rack DA.49. I’m working towards my history badge so I volunteered to digitize Rib Scout history. I’ll be combing through the old manuals (donated by my Prime Rib Scout leader Mrs. Pine – thank you Mrs. Pine!).
This won’t just be some lazy scans of the manuals though! I’ll be digging through the original local libraries around Lake Erie where the Rib Scouts first got started. Advertisements, jingles, fliers, and even journal entries will all be added for a more total look of the Rib Scouts in their first years.
Wish me luck! I’ll try and update every Wednesday since I get out of practice early that day. Mr. Harthawrn says runners gotta rest their knees.
